2024 CO-CHAIRS LETTER THE WASHINGTON WINTER SHOW 6 This page is sponsored by Jonathan G. Willen in honor of Kathy M. Prendergast and Suzanne Duvall Stelljes “When I began collecting, I did it for the joy of it…” — MARJORIE MERRIWEATHER POST I t is with this sense of joy that we welcome you to For the Joy of It: Creating Beautiful Spaces , a theme inspired by Marjorie Merriweather Post, whose passion for collecting was a testament to her appreciation for beauty, history, and culture. Marjorie’s collecting was not driven by a desire for personal gain or investment; rather, she collected “for the joy of it.” Continuing the legacy of Marjorie Merriweather Post at this year’s Show, we hope you will find joy in discovering and acquiring beautiful and meaningful objects, appreciating their craftsmanship, and learning about the stories they hold. She believed collecting should be a joyful pursuit, as the true value of collecting lies in personal connection and enjoyment rather than accumulation of possessions. As co-chairs of the 2024Washington Winter Show, we are proud to continue the tradition for the 69th year of bringing together talent and creativity to make this spectacular show a reality.
