Fifteenth Anniversary Fine Estates Auction Tuesday, May 21st at 10:00am Our anniversary auction comprises over 600 lots from estates and consignors in New York and Connecticut. The sale includes American folk art and country furniture from two Litchfield County estates, including a wonderful collection of early advertising tins; American and European fine art; American formal and country furniture; Continental and English furniture and decorations; MCM art glass and decorations; a group of antique bronze lighting; and many estate oriental carpets. One of a group of five important eighteenth century New York chippendale carved mahogany “tassle-back” side chairs. The group has history in the Bulkeley family of Connecticut since the 19th century and is closely related to the group of several variant chairs known to have originated with the Van Rensselaer family of Albany and New York City. They retain a rich historic finish and the carving is exquisitely executed.
