The Fair focuses on American 19th- and 20th-century works with more than 400 landscapes, portraits, still lifes, studies, and sculpture exhibited by 17 premier specialists. For the first time, major works of American folk art will be offered at the American Art Fair by dealer-specialists David A. Schorsch and Eileen M. Smiles through a curated exhibition, By the People, For the People: Fine American Folk Art 1780–1940. The fair will host an impressive lecture series: Saturday, May 13 at 2:00 pm, Some Old Curiosity Shops: Whistler, Commerce, and the Art of Urban Change, David Park Curry, Independent Scholar; Saturday, May 13 at 4:00 pm, Variations on a Theme: Joseph Stella’s Visionary Nature, Stephanie Heydt, Margaret and Terry Stent Curator of American Art High Museum of Art, Atlanta; Sunday, May 14 at 2:00 pm, The Painting of Raymond Jonson: American Modernism From Chicago to Santa Fe, Herbert R. Hartel, Jr., Adjunct Associate Professor, Queens College, CUNY; Sunday, May 14 at 4:00 pm, Omissions from the Canon: Artistic Representations of Industry Along the Hudson River, Annette Blaugrund, Former Director, National Academy Museum and School of Fine Arts.
