Minor areas of in-painting, otherwise in fine condition. Hobo Lake is south of Plum Lake in the town of Sayner in Vilas County, Wisconsin and was known for its fishing. Only a small, 14-acre lake, it became quite popular by the late 19th century and was referenced in “Forest and Stream” (vol. 48, pg. 346) May 1, 1897. This view of the “Hobo Fishing Camp,” dated 1906 gives us a glimpse of the charm and serenity of the lake on a summer’s day. The bright colors of the painting and the prominent American flag flying proudly at the center add to the desirability.
